Holvaleburg (/hollyvale/ [Translation Unavailable]) is a subtropical Town located in Àfyèmecùt County, Ivbea Kingdom, within the Sylvanian Empire.

The name Holvaleburg is derived from the Sylvin language, as Holvaleburg was founded by Brilêv Loveridge, who was culturaly Sylvin.

Climate

Holvaleburg has a yearly average temperature of 18°C (64°F), with its average temperature during the summer being a warm 26°C (78°F) and its average temperature during the winter being a cool 11°C (51°F). Holvaleburg receives an average of 136 cm/y (53 in/y) of precipitation, most of which comes in the form of rain during the spring. Holvaleburg covers an area of nearly 6 km² (2 mi²), and an average elevation of 4812 m (15787 ft) above sea level.

Overview

Holvaleburg was founded durring the early 13th century in winter of the year 1210, by Brilêv Loveridge. The establishment of Holvaleburg was somewhat plagued by a lack of willing colonists, leading to Brilêv Loveridge electing to pay people to resettle in Holvaleburg.

Holvaleburg was built using the conventions of Sylvin durring the early 13th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and Holvaleburg is no diffrent. The town's buildings feature plaster covered brickwork used to form structures with an emphasis on symmetry, proportion, geometry and the regularity of parts. Orderly arrangements of columns, pilasters and lintels, as well as the use of semicircular arches, hemispherical domes, niches and aediculae can be found everywhere such that only size of building and yard can be used to measure the general prosparity of a given building's owners due to a general wealthy feeling the style gives off.

Holvaleburg is buildings have been located at convienant points along the gorge Holvaleburg was built upon. Navigating the town is therefore a little chalanging as the distance between buildings verris greatly and the broad packed earth streets flow where they are able to be made rather than folowing the most convienant paths. The town is the proud owner of a thick set of fortified walls fashioned from querried stone blocks. While not up to snuff for a fort or castle wall, the town's walls are naturaly much larger than those of forts or castles. Therefore, the construction such a wall is most expencive. Holvaleburg's buget focused wall would serve its community well in battle in spite of looking unimpressive compared to castles and fortresses. Holvaleburg's top tier civilian fortifications are in an unremarkable state. To some, this is the ideal sate for defences to be in. In need of absoutly nothing, and ready to serve the town as needed.

Holvaleburg has the unmistakable air of a town on its last legs. Everything is a bit slipshod and ramshackle. Everyone is at work, or drinking. No one has anything in their eyes other than fear and despair. Whatever industry once fueled Holvaleburg ’s existence has dried up and the town is drifting down the stream of history as it dries up.

Holvaleburg possesses an older civil lighting system consisting of street lamps. These lights provide nighttime illumination to most city streets.

Holvaleburg has a Parks and Recreation Department, which is responsible for the construction, management, and usage rights for all of its parks and parklands. They are not to be confused with the Office of Civil Groundskeeping as they do not hold authority over nor responsibility for Holvaleburg's natural decorations nor waterways.

Holvaleburg has a public schooling program overseen by the Hall of Sages who has the responsibility of ensuring access to affordable high-quality education in all basic classes (Reading, Writing, Mathmatics, General Sciences, General Arcana, and Social Education) is made available to all citizens.

Cultural Notes

Holvaleburg's mayor's house was built using a different architectural style from the rest of the town. The style used makes use of a large oblong hall or building with double colonnades and a semicircular apse and symmetrical central-plan, resulting in buildings with a square central mass and four arms of equal length. Decorative features included domed rooves, arches, soaring spaces, and sumptuous decoration: marble columns and inlay, mosaics on the vaults, inlaid-stone pavements, and sometimes gold coffered ceilings.
